AIM OF THE STUDY: The aim of the study is to evaluate the effectiveness of structured teaching programme on knowledge and awareness regarding HPV (Human papilloma virus) vaccination on cervical cancer among the adolescent girls. RESEARCH METHODOLOGY: The research design adopted for this study is a pre- experimental design with one group pre-test and post-test design. In this study, the target population is adolescent girls who are studying in 9th to 12th class of Rajikiya Balika Inter College, Lucknow (U.P.). RESULT: In pre-test, majority of respondents had inadequate 41(82%) of existing level of knowledge, rest 9(18%) had moderate knowledge and none of them had adequate knowledge. Majority of respondents 28(56%) had low level of awareness rest 22(44%) has high level of awareness. In post-test, after implementation structured teaching programme majority of respondents 42(84%) had adequate knowledge and rest 8(16%) had moderate knowledge. After intervention all respondents 50(100%) had high awareness. The t- value for knowledge 22.13 and t-value for awareness 13.60. It shows that the structured teaching programme is effective. CONCLUSION: The prevalence of cervical cancer and HPV infections is influenced by many factors like advance age, weakened immune system and sexual transmitted diseases. The HPV vaccination can prevent cervical cancer, genital warts, and other cancer caused by HPV. The protection from the HPV vaccine can last for many years. A Pre-Experimental (one group pre-test post-test) research design was adopted and 50 adolescent girls were selected as samples by using Purposive Sampling Technique that was fulfilling the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Data collection and analysis were carried out based on the objectives of the study.
